Replica Of Aurangzeb's Grave Was Burnt, Rumours Spread About Quran Burning: CM Fadnavis On Nagpur Violence
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis addressed the violence in Nagpur, saying that a replica of Aurangzeb's tomb was burnt, leading to stone pelting and arson.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday spoke about the violence that took place in Nagpur earlier this week.
On Monday, large-scale stone pelting and arson were reported in several parts of Nagpur over rumours that a "chadar" with verses from the Quran was burnt during protests led by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad seeking the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb.
Addressing the media, Fadnavis said he reviewed the incident with the police officers. The entire sequence of events and the actions taken have been reviewed, he added.

Replica Of Tomb Was Burnt
Speaking on the incident, Fadnavis said that a replica of Aurangzeb's grave was burnt in the morning before the violence broke out later in the day.
An FIR was booked over the incident, he said, adding that people were gathered after a rumour was spread that a verse from the Quran was written on it.
"The crowd pelted stones and committed arson. The police have taken preventive action. Based on CCTV footage, those who were rioting are being arrested," he said.

104 People Arrested, Rioters To Pay For Damage
As many as 104 people have been arrested so far and police will arrest more people, the CM said.
He also said that police action will be taken against those who are involved in the riots or are helping the rioters. "Those who spread rumours on social media will also be made co-accused," Fadnavis said, adding that 68 social media posts have been identified and deleted so far.
The CM vowed action against rioters saying they would be made to pay for the damages.
"Whatever damage has happened will be recovered from the rioters. If they do not pay the money, then their property will be sold for the recovery. Wherever required, bulldozers will also be used...," he said.
