7 Men Buy & Sell Pistols On Facebook, Instagram In Muzaffarnagar; Arrested
The accused -- Azam Rizvi, Vivek Nagar, Manish Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Rishabh Prajapati, Vishal and Pratik Tyagi -- were arrested when they were delivering the assignment.
The police in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar have arrested seven people for allegedly buying and selling illegal weapons on social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.
The accused -- Azam Rizvi, Vivek Nagar, Manish Kumar, Pradeep Kumar, Rishabh Prajapati, Vishal and Pratik Tyagi -- were arrested when they were delivering the assignment to the buyers, Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapati said in a video statement. Vishal and Pradeep had come to buy the pistols and had contacted the gang with Pratik Tyagi's help.
The officer said the gang used to take payments online. Five illegal pistols, cartridges, a bike, a car and their mobile phones were seized during the operation.
Cow Smuggler Arrested After Encounter With Police
A suspected cow smuggler was arrested after an encounter with police in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district on Monday. The encounter took place in the Nai Mandi area of Muzaffarnagar when the alleged cow smuggler sustained a bullet injury and was shifted to a hospital for treatment. A pistol and a cartridge were seized from the accused.
The accused was wanted in two cases of cow slaughter and further legal action into the matter is being taken.
Class 6 Girl Dies After Eating 'Halwa' In Residential School
A class 6 student died after she ate 'halwa' at a residential school in the Sikheda area in the district, PTI reported. An inquiry has been ordered into the matter that took place on Sunday. Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) Sandeep Kumar said that the girl’s body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
"The cause of her death will be determined following the postmortem report," Kumar said, adding that the girl was taken to a hospital after she fell ill and was declared dead upon arrival. "All 32 students had tea and halwa for breakfast, but only one student fell sick and, tragically passed away," he added.
An inquiry into the incident has been ordered, the officer added.
