High Drama On Mumbai Atal Setu As Cops, Cab Driver Foil Woman's Suicide Bid — VIDEO
A woman attempted to die by suicide by jumping off the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link but was rescued by a cab driver and police personnel.
Mumbai News: A woman who was trying to die by suicide by jumping off the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, also known as Atal Setu, was saved by a cab driver and police personnel on Friday evening. A video of the incident surfaced on social media that showed the cab driver and four police personnel pulling the woman to safety.
Initially, the cab driver who was standing near the woman held her by her hair to save her as she jumped. Then, four police personnel got out of their vehicle and reacted swiftly to rescue her. According to the police, the incident took place at around 7.15 PM. Later, the woman was taken to the police station in Navi Mumbai, and her family members were informed, according to an Indian Express report.
In a post on X, Commissioner of Police, Mumbai Vivek Phansalkar said, "Responding promptly to an attempt to die by suicide at MTHL Atal Setu, the on-duty officials, PN Lalit Shirsat, PN Kiran Mahtre, PC Yash Sonawane & PC Mayur Patil of @Navimumpolice jumped over the railing & rescued the individual saving her life. I request citizens to value the gift of life and not act on impulse in such circumstances. Never forget, your loved ones deserve better".

“The Nhava Sheva Traffic Branch Patrolling One got a call that a vehicle has stopped on the Atal Setu bridge on the road heading to Shelghar Toll Naka and a woman is doing something by crossing the railing of the bridge,” an officer was quoted by Indian Express as saying.
According to the police, the woman was identified as Reema Patel, as per the IE report. She is a homemaker and a resident of Mulund. “We are trying to understand the problem that pushed her to take her own life,” the officer further stated.
