'Why Silent On Punjab?': BJP Hits Back At AAP's Charge Over Mahila Samriddhi Yojana
Mahila Samriddhi Yojana: Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva has accused AAP of misleading people over the allegations about the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana.

Mahila Samriddhi Yojana: Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has hit back at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after the latter's attack against the saffron party over the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. While the AAP has been questioning the BJP to fulfil "PM Modi's guarantee", the BJP has responded saying why the Punjab government, where the AAP is in power, has not implemented the scheme it promised.

Sachdeva said, "Instead of asking us for the day-to-day accounts, [former Delhi CM] Atishi should tell us where is Rs 1,000 in Punjab? It has been 37 months since the government was formed in Punjab. There is an AAP government there. Why don't you speak on that? Why is Arvind Kejriwal acting dumb, and why doesn't Bhagwant Mann speak on this?"
He said that the AAP had promised Rs 1,000 per month to the women of Punjab, but had failed to deliver.
"It has been only a few days since our government was formed, and governments are not run by urban Naxalism. The government runs by rules, by law," he said. He further said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and the BJP's ministers are looking after all the works.

"It is taking time to fix the system of corruption and fill those pits dug by the AAP government. But I am saying that every poor woman in Delhi will get money under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana. This is the commitment of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and we do what we say," Sachdeva said.
Before the Delhi elections, the BJP had said that it would start disbursing allowances to women under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana from March 8, International Women's Day. It had also mentioned in its manifesto that the BJP government would not blame others for problems. "Our government will not make any excuses or blame others for the problems related to Delhi’s health, traffic, electricity, water, transport, etc. and will find effective solutions by collaborating with the neighbouring states, MCD, NDMC and the central government," the BJP manifesto read.
AAP Scared Of CAG Report
Virendra Sachdeva further said, "AAP leaders are well aware that two CAG reports have come out, which have exposed the alleged corruption of Arvind Kejriwal and his close associates. These reports are so serious that Arvind Kejriwal and his associates could face long jail sentences on the basis of these. Out of this fear, AAP leaders are resorting to theatrics and misleading statements on the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana."
What Is The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana?
The Mahila Samriddhi Yojana is an ambitious scheme of the BJP government aimed at providing economic support to women. Under this scheme, women will be provided financial assistance by the government.
Virendra Sachdeva also said that the BJP government is fully committed to women's empowerment and that the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana will be implemented soon.
The government has formulated specific criteria to ensure that only genuinely needy women benefit from the scheme:
- Women with an annual income of less than ₹2.5 lakh will be eligible.
- Women employed in government jobs and those who pay income tax will be excluded.
- Women already receiving any form of government pension will not be eligible.
A Cabinet meeting is expected to be held on Saturday to decide on the implementation of the scheme.
