AAP Corners BJP Over 'Mahila Samriddhi Yojana', Demands Action On ‘Modi’s Guarantee’ In Delhi

Ahead of the March 8 deadline for the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana launch, Delhi's AAP is holding the BJP to its promise on allowance to women.

During the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP had promised to provide Rs 2,500 per month to women. With only two days left until March 8, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is out on the streets, reminding the BJP of its commitment.

On Thursday, AAP workers staged protests, holding banners that read "Just Two Days Left". AAP workers questioned when the promised amount would be transferred to women's bank accounts. Former MLA Rituraj Jha also joined the protest, reminding Delhi voters of the BJP’s election promises.

Will Delhi Women Receive ₹2,500 By March 8?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had previously announced that once the BJP forms the government, the Mahila Samman Yojana would be approved in the first cabinet meeting. The BJP manifesto before the election read: "We will provide financial assistance of ₹2,500 monthly to women from poor families under Mahila Samriddhi Yojana."

Following CM Rekha Gupta's first cabinet meeting, the first installment of ₹2,500 was supposed to be transferred to women voters' accounts on March 8.

However, the AAP claimed that although the BJP has come to power and the first cabinet meeting has already taken place, there has been no discussion about the scheme. They alleged that the "PM’s first guarantee has failed".

With only two days remaining until March 8, women are eagerly waiting for the promised funds. The AAP is demanding that the BJP fulfill its election guarantee on time. The party has been actively protesting for three days, attempting to hold the BJP accountable for its promises.

On Tuesday, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, too, led a protest at Mandi House, urging the BJP to honour its commitment. On Wednesday, demonstrations were held at ITO and on several flyovers across the city.
