Leopard Enters Pune Airport Runway, Seen Just Metres Away From Passengers: Watch

A leopard entered the premises of Pune International Airport on Monday evening. Visuals that surfaced on social media showed the leopard just metres away from a plane carrying passengers.

However, Pune Range Forest Officer Suresh Varak said the location where the animal was seen was "quite far" from the runway.
"A leopard has been spotted on the premises of Pune Airport. Following the sighting, we have deployed teams and launched an operation to capture it by setting up cages and trap cameras. Further monitoring operations are underway," he said.
The leopard was spotted in the morning around 7 am on Monday and later around 8 pm. "In the evening, it was spotted roughly 500 metres from the runway and 700-800 metres from the new terminal building. We are now searching for it on the airport's airside. We have set up camera traps. We hope to capture it on Tuesday," Varak told TOI.
The Pune airport advisory committee had a meeting to discuss the presence of wild animals in the airport area. Officials from the Indian Air Force, which jointly operates Pune airport, urged authorities to take action. The advisory committee meeting was chaired by MoS Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol. IAF, CISF and other key officials attended the meeting.
