Chaos At Jhansi Railway Platform As Passengers Rushing To Board Maha Kumbh Special Train Fall On Track — On Cam
Railway Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Singh said that the incident took place due to a misunderstanding and assured that no passenger was injured in the incident.
A disaster was averted on Monday night after a stampede-like situation occurred at the Veerangana Laxmibai Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi. Two passengers, including a woman, fell on the track, narrowly escaping being run over by the train. Several passengers also fell on the platform.
The incident occurred at around 7:45 PM when the Jhansi-Prayagraj Ring Rail Express was being sent for cleaning on platform number six to eight. The train had reached Jhansi from Prayagraj on January 13, Dainik Jagran reported.
However, passengers mistook it for the departure train to Prayagraj for Mahakumbh and rushed to board it, causing chaos on the platform. Some of them even began boarding the train from the railway tracks, which added to the chaotic situation.
But some of the passengers acted quickly and helped those in danger. The two passengers who fell on the track were rescued safely. The guard and the train diver's quick thinking also helped avert the disaster as the train was stopped at the right time, the report said.
The video of the crowd at the platform and the incident was captured by the passengers and has gone viral on social media.
