A grand wedding celebration hosted by Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker and BJP leader Narendra Singh Tomar for his son, Prabal Pratap Tomar, has sparked a political controversy, thanks to a dance performance by actor Jacqueline Fernandez.

The wedding drew a host of VIP guests from politics and Bollywood. The ceremony took place at Jaipur’s iconic Jai Mahal Palace, where Prabal married Arundhati Singh Rajawat in a lavish event attended by several top leaders and celebrities.

The pre-wedding festivities, held three days prior in Gwalior, featured performances by Bollywood stars Jacqueline Fernandez and singer B Praak. However, Fernandez's dance performance sparked backlash on social media due to its timing, as it came shortly after the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. Many slammed the extravagant entertainment amid national mourning.

"When the whole country is mourning the Pahalgam attack, Jacqueline Fernandez is dancing at the wedding of Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Narendra Tomar's son. BJP's nationalism is just a shame," one X user said.

Another user said: "Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez performed at Prabal Pratap Singh Tomar's wedding ceremony. [It was the] wedding ceremony of Vidhan Sabha Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar's son..Where is the sorrow of Pahalgam?"

Echoing the sentiments, another X user said: "While the whole country is mourning the Pahalgam incident, Madhya Pradesh BJP leader Narendra Singh Tomar is getting Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez to do an item dance at his son's wedding,"

Political Heavyweights And Celebrities In Attendance

The guest list at the Tomars' event featured an impressive lineup of dignitaries, including Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde, Sikkim Governor Om Mathur, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami, and Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai. Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Rajasthan Deputy CM Diya Kumari, Premchand Bairwa, and former CM Vasundhara Raje were also present.

 

 

 

From the entertainment world, Bollywood actor Arbaaz Khan, actress Preeti Jhangiani, and actor Anirudh Dave were seen at the event. A classical music performance was delivered by Zakir Hussain's Indian Beats band, adding a traditional touch to the celebration.

Engagement And Reception Details

Prabal Pratap Tomar, who serves as vice-president of the Lawn Tennis Association in Delhi, got engaged to Arundhati Singh Rajawat on October 21, 2024, at the Taj Hotel in Agra. Arundhati is the granddaughter of Thakur Bhanu Pratap Singh Rajawat, the BJP district president from Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

The final wedding reception is scheduled for May 4 in Gwalior and is expected to see more prominent figures in attendance.
