'Even God Can't Do That': Shivakumar's Take On Traffic Woes In Bengaluru Stokes Controversy
Economist Mohandas Pai questioned the government's progress in improving Bengaluru's infrastructure.

Bengaluru News: Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has stoked controversy with his comments on the conditions of roads in IT hub Bengaluru. While speaking at the launch of Namma Raste, a guidebook on road design and maintenance, Shivakumar said resolving congestion issues will take time.
"Bengaluru can't be changed in two or three years. Even God can't do that. It can be changed only when proper planning is done and executed well," he said. Shivakumar instructed officials to remove overhead optical fiber cables cluttering roads and footpaths.
"The tunnel road work should have started already, but we are facing hurdles. The 40-km double-decker road project is ready, and several other initiatives will take shape in the coming years. Additionally, 1,700 km of roads are being white-topped," he said.
Economist Mohandas Pai questioned the government's progress in improving Bengaluru's infrastructure.
"It has been two years since you became our Minister! We applauded and welcomed you as a strong Minister. But our lives have become much worse! Big projects announced! Will take very long and delayed as govt has not completed any project in city on time!" Pai posted on X.

BJP leader Mohan Krishna told NDTV, "It is very unfortunate that the person who said he would make 'Brand Bengaluru' has said even God cannot fix this. Then who can?"
"God has given an opportunity to a person or a party to serve the people. It is unfortunate that this government has indulged in many activities other than development," he added.
