Delhiites Shiver As Cold Waves Grip National Capital, IMD Warns Of More Chilly Days Ahead

Delhi will experience harsh winter conditions with dense fog and a drop in temperature from January 14 to 16, as per the IMD. For January 13, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for dense fog.

The Delhiites should braceup for severe chilly conditions in the national capital, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warning for harsh winter for the upcoming days. 

For Monday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for dense fog. As per the weather bureau, the morning of January 13 is expected to be foggy.

As per ANI, a thin layer of fog enveloped the national capital on Monday as cold wave continues in the city.

The agency has forecast the maximum and minimum temperatures of around 19 degrees Celsius and 7 degrees Celsius respectively for January 13. However, from 14 to 16 January, Delhi will witness the effect of dense fog and a drop in temperature, which will lead to a biting cold.

While many trains are running late at New Delhi Railway Station due to cold wave and fog, some trains have also been cancelled.

Some flights are also reported to be delayed at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) due to the fog. 

As per the IMD, there has been a rise in minimum temperature upto one degree Celsius over Delhi/NCR during past 24 hour. The maximum and ninimum temperatures over Delhi were in the range of 15-17 degrees Celsius and 8-9 degrees Celsius respectively. The minimum temperature was near normal and maximum temperature was below normal upto five degrees Celsius over most places.

According to Delhi's standard observatory at Safdarjung, the minimum temperature in Aya Nagar was recorded lower than other centers of Delhi. The minimum temperature here was 7.9 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Ridge was 8.8 degrees Celsius and in Lodhi Road it was 9.2 degrees Celsius.
