CRPF Jawan Kills ASI Live-In Partner During Gujarat Vacation, Later Drinks Phenyl

Police said the couple was on leave and had travelled to Ahmedabad for shopping and a brief holiday. They were staying at a rented accommodation in Gangotri Society in Anjar.

A 25-year-old woman police officer was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan, following a heated argument late Friday night. The accused, identified as Dilip Jadav, later attempted suicide but survived and surrendered to the police on Saturday morning.

The victim, Aruna Jadav, served as an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) at Anjar police station. She and Dilip, who is posted in Manipur with the CRPF, hailed from neighbouring villages in Surendranagar district and were reportedly in a long-term relationship with plans to marry.

The Couple Had Gone To Ahmedabad

Police said the couple was on leave and had travelled to Ahmedabad for shopping and a brief holiday. They were staying at a rented accommodation in Gangotri Society in Anjar.

Superintendent of Police (Kutch East) Sagar Bagmar said, "In the heat of an argument, Jadav strangled Aruna. Realising the gravity of his act, he tried to take his own life by slashing his wrist and consuming phenyl. However, he vomited and survived."

Neighbours reported hearing loud quarrels around 11 pm on Friday. Police said Jadav remained at the crime scene with the body until the next morning.

Around 10 am on Saturday, he walked into the Anjar police station and confessed to the killing. "We rushed to the scene and found Aruna's body. Her family has been informed and the body was sent for postmortem," said Anjar police inspector Ajaysinh Gohil.

Jadav is currently in custody as authorities investigate the full sequence of events leading to the tragic death.
