Chennai Power Cut On July 21: These Kilpauk And Ambattur Areas Will Face 5-Hour Outage
Chennai Power Outage July 21: TANGEDCO scheduled a power outage for maintenance in Kilpauk and Ambattur on July 21, from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Chennai Power Cut July 21: If you're living in parts of Kilpauk or Ambattur, brace yourself for a power outage on Monday, July 21. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) has scheduled a maintenance-related electricity shutdown from 9 AM to 2 PM, citing routine infrastructure work.
The planned disruption is aimed at strengthening the grid and ensuring long-term supply stability. While the shutdown is temporary, it’s likely to affect households, businesses, and daily routines in several key neighbourhoods.
Which Areas Will Be Affected?
In Kilpauk, the following localities are expected to lose power during the five-hour window:
- Poonamallee High Road
- Shastri Nagar
- Ozankulam
- New Boopathy Nagar
- Thambusamy Street
- Flowers Road
- Pulla Reddy Puram
- Gengu Reddy Road
In Ambattur, power supply will be cut off in:
- K.K. Road
- Venkatapuram
- School Road
- Vijayalakshmipuram
- Old MTH Road
TANGEDCO has urged residents in these areas to plan accordingly. Whether it's charging essential devices, preparing meals in advance, or making alternate work arrangements, the utility recommends taking precautionary steps to minimise inconvenience.
The good news? The outage is part of a preventive strategy and not an emergency. Once the maintenance wraps up, power is expected to be restored without further delay. Scheduled outages are normal as they help power discoms maintain the supply lines and grid.
