'Farmers Are Suffering': BJP MLA Slams Own Govt Over Power Crisis In UP

BJP MLA Laxmiraj Singh has leveled serious allegations against the functioning of the Energy Department regarding frequent power outages.

A letter from BJP MLA Laxmiraj Singh, highlighting the failures of his own government, has surfaced. He is representing the Sikandrabad Assembly constituency in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. Addressing the Principal Secretary of the state Energy Department, the MLA has raised serious concerns over the extremely poor condition of the electricity department.

The BJP MLA has leveled serious allegations against the functioning of the Energy Department regarding frequent power outages. Drawing attention to the dire state of the electricity supply in his constituency, he mentioned in his letter to the Principal Secretary (Energy) that the power supply in the area has been severely disrupted for the past 15 days. It has badly affected the general public, particularly the farmers.

Farmers’ Crops On Verge Of Destruction

The MLA further noted that tube wells have not been functioning for almost 15 days due to the absence of electricity, resulting in the farmers’ crops on the verge of destruction. People in rural areas are also facing severe difficulties amid extreme heat.

In addition, MLA Laxmiraj Singh also alleged that junior officials of the Power Corporation are not answering public calls, causing widespread anger among residents.

In his letter, the MLA stated that the electricity supply in Sikandrabad town, Gulawathi (urban and rural), and the Kakod area within his constituency is in an extremely poor condition. He demanded strict action against the responsible officials and employees and called for a 100 per dent resolution of the public's grievances.

Speaking to ABP News, the MLA told the reporter, "Officers at the SDO level do not answer calls from the public, although they do take my calls. The storm that occurred earlier caused significant damage, and since then, electricity has not been restored for nearly 15 days, leading to tube wells being non-functional. Farmers are suffering huge losses and hardships. Although the electricity department claims that repairs are underway, I continue to receive numerous calls from the public regarding power issues. That’s why I wrote the letter."
