Bihar Shocker: Woman Kills Husband To Keep Alive 15-Year Relationship With Uncle

Gunja Singh, a newlywed in Bihar, allegedly orchestrated her husband Priyanshu's murder, inspired by the Meghalaya honeymoon killing.

In a case as shocking as it is tragic, a marriage in Bihar’s Aurangabad district ended in murder, allegedly orchestrated by the bride herself, drawing eerie parallels to the recent Meghalaya honeymoon killing that captivated national headlines.

Priyanshu Kumar Singh, a 24-year-old resident, was gunned down on the night of June 24 while returning home from Nabinagar railway station, unaware that his own wife, Gunja Singh, was allegedly plotting his death.

Police initially suspected a contract killing, but the investigation took a sinister turn when authorities discovered that Gunja, just 45 days into her marriage, was at the heart of the conspiracy. According to Aurangabad Superintendent of Police Ambarish Rahul, Gunja had been involved in a clandestine relationship for 15 years with her maternal uncle, 52-year-old Jeevan Singh, reported The Times of India.

Despite her reluctance, Gunja married Priyanshu in May under family pressure. However, police say that within weeks, the strain of concealing her long-standing affair drove her to hatch a deadly plan. Disturbingly, investigators believe she drew inspiration from the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, in which a newlywed woman allegedly killed her husband during their honeymoon trip.

Determined to rid herself of her husband, Gunja and Jeevan reportedly devised a meticulous plot. Police allege that Jeevan enlisted the help of two men — Jaishankar Chaubey and Mukesh Sharma from Jharkhand’s Garhwa district — who helped secure SIM cards and organise the logistics of the killing.

On the night of the murder, Priyanshu, returning from Varanasi, made a routine phone call to update his wife on his whereabouts. Investigators say Gunja immediately relayed this information to the waiting assailants. Moments later, Priyanshu was ambushed and shot dead in cold blood.

Gunja was arrested on Wednesday evening and, during questioning, confessed to masterminding the murder. Police have also apprehended both alleged accomplices, while Jeevan Singh remains on the run, with an intense manhunt underway.

Authorities have seized Gunja’s mobile phone, and say call records will serve as critical evidence linking her to the conspiracy.

The case has left both the local community and investigators deeply unsettled, not only for the brutal nature of the crime but also for its haunting resemblance to the Meghalaya incident, where marital ties concealed a deadly betrayal.
