A sessions court in Kolkata's Sealdah is all set to deliver its verdict in the RG Kar hospital rape-murder case toady, in which a 31-year-old trainee doctor at the college was raped and murdered in August last year.
The body of the doctor was found in the seminar room of the state-run hospital on August 9, 2024, which led to nationwide outrage and prolonged protests.

August 9: A semi-naked body of a 31-year-old post-graduate trainee doctor was found inside a seminar hall of state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. As per the details, the woman was identified as a second-year student of the chest medicine department and was on duty on August 8-9.
August 10: Sanjay Roy, the main accused, was arrested by Kolkata Police. The autopsy report of the doctor confirmed that she was sexually assaulted before she was murdered.
August 12: The principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sandip Ghosh, stepped down from his post.
August 13: The Calcutta High Court ordered the former RG Kar Principal Ghosh to take an extended leave. The investigation was also transferred to CBI from the Kolkata Police.
August 14: A CBI team begins a probe. The accused was taken into the custody by the CBI officials.
August 15: A large crowd of unidentified men barged into RG Kar Medical College and obstructed the overnight protest by doctors.
August 16: At least 19 people were arrested for vandalism at RG Kar Hospital.
August 17: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) called for a one-day nationwide strike of doctors.
