Air Force Personnel Hold Republic Day Rehearsal March Along Kartavya Path Under Thick Fog Cover: WATCH

Air Force personnel practise marching for the 78th Republic Day amid the dip in the morning temperature.

Air Force personnel were seen practising for the 78th Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path in Delhi, early in the morning on Wednesday, as the capital noticed a significant dip in temperature.

Personnel were also seen exercising before the practice with jogging and stretches.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi will see clear skies. During the morning hours, the wind speed will be less than 4 kmph, and smog and dense fog will reduce visibility. At 9 am, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 7.8 degrees Celsius.

Later, similarly, in the evening to night hours, smog and shallow fog are expected.

“A fresh Western disturbance likely to affect western Himalayan region from 18 December, 2024”, IMD had reported earlier.

The MeT Dept said, that the weather may affect some airports, highways and rail routes. It also warned drivers that this would lead to slower journey times and advised to use fog lights. It also warned about smog which will be filled with pollutants that can get lodged in the lungs, “which increases episodes of wheezing, coughing and shortness of breath” especially for people with breathing difficulties.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday night, many people took refuge at night shelters across various locations in Delhi, as a cold wave continued its grip over the national capital. The IMD recorded 8 degrees Celsius temperature in Delhi at 2:30 am.

The temperatures in Delhi and parts of northern India have started to dip, on Saturday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius.

Last week, some parts of the city observed cold wave conditions, including Ayanagar and Pusa, where temperatures dropped to 3.8 and 3.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
