Tesla Picks THESE Cities For First Indian Showrooms, Says Report
As per the report, the showrooms will each span around 5,000 square feet. These developments come after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the United States

Tesla Showroom India: Tesla has reportedly chosen two showroom locations in India, according to a Reuters report, citing anonymous sources. One is situated in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex, while the other is in Delhi's Aerocity, both strategically located near airports. The automaker resumed its search for retail spaces in 2024 after pausing its market-entry plans in 2022.
According to the report, the showrooms will each span around 5,000 square feet. These developments come after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent meeting with Tesla CEO Elon Musk in the United States. This week, Tesla also posted job listings for 14 positions, including store and customer relationship managers.
One source informed Reuters that Tesla intends to sell imported electric vehicles in India and emphasised that these locations are for showrooms, not service centres. The company plans to operate these outlets directly.
Maharashtra could emerge as a manufacturing hub for Tesla in India, as per an Economic Times report. Tesla currently has an office in Pune, along with several suppliers, and the state government has reportedly offered the automaker sites in Chakan and Chikhali (both in the Pune district). The area is home to production facilities for major car brands such as Tata Motors, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen, the report noted.
Tesla Launch In India
Meanwhile, according to a CNBC-TV18 report released on Wednesday citing familiar sources, Tesla is set to launch the company’s retail operations in India by April this year, with initial imports from its Berlin plant.
The initial plan involves introducing an electric vehicle (EV) priced under $25,000 (around Rs 21 lakh) for the Indian market, the report stated.
While Tesla has not confirmed any plans to manufacture its EVs in India, the company intends to boost its component sourcing from local OEM suppliers, with projections to exceed $1 billion in sourcing by 2025, the report added.
