The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0 is an initiative to provide affordable and quality housing to urban residents. Launched on September 1, 2024, the scheme addresses the increasing housing demand due to rapid urbanization in India. It offers financial assistance to individuals and families from economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG), enabling them to construct, purchase, or enhance their homes.

Key Details Of PMAY-U 2.0

The scheme was launched on September 1, 2024, with a duration of five years, running until 2029. The scheme aims to benefit urban families from EWS, LIG, MIG, slum dwellers, and marginalised groups, including women-led households and senior citizens. 

Assistance will be provided through subsidies, loans, and direct support, with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs overseeing its implementation. The primary objective is to ensure affordable and decent housing for all eligible urban households. Applications can be submitted both online and offline, with further details available on the official website, pmaymis.gov.in.

How To Apply For PMAY-U 2.0?

Applications for PMAY-U 2.0 can be submitted both online and offline.

Online Application Process:

  1. Visit the PMAY-U official website.
  2. Click on “Citizen Assessment” and choose the relevant category.
  3. Enter your Aadhaar details for verification.
  4. Fill out the application form, upload the necessary documents, and submit.
  5. Track your application status using the acknowledgement number.

Offline Application Process:

  1. Visit your local Common Service Center (CSC) or municipal office.
  2. Collect and fill out the application form with the required documents.
  3. Submit the form and collect the acknowledgement slip.

Required Documents:

  1. Applicant's Aadhaar details (Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar, date of birth).
  2. Aadhaar details of family members (Aadhaar number, name as per Aadhaar, date of birth).
  3. Active bank account details of the applicant (account number, bank name, branch, IFSC code) linked with Aadhaar.
  4. Income proof (Only in PDF format, size up to 200KB).
  5. Caste/Community proof (For SC, ST, or OBC applicants) (Only in PDF format, size up to 200KB).
  6. Land document (Required for BLC vertical) (Only in PDF format, size up to 5MB).
