Leadership Change At Zomato, COO Rinshul Chandra Steps Down

Chandra, a longstanding member of the senior leadership team, will step down officially on April 7. His resignation was tendered on April 5, as confirmed in the company’s regulatory filing.

In a significant leadership exit, Eternal Limited—previously known as Zomato— announced the resignation of Rinshul Chandra, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of its food delivery arm.

Chandra, a longstanding member of the senior leadership team, will step down officially on April 7. His resignation was tendered on April 5, as confirmed in the company’s regulatory filing, reported IANS.

Explaining his decision, the company noted that Chandra is moving on to pursue new ventures that align more closely with his evolving professional ambitions and personal interests. “It has been an incredibly fulfilling journey over the past seven years, and I am truly grateful for the trust, support, and opportunities I’ve received during my time here. I wish our world-class teams at Eternal the very best,” he wrote in a message shared with the company.

Chandra's Journey With Eternal

Chandra's association with the company dates back to 2018, when he joined as Assistant Vice President of Product. Over time, he climbed the ranks, taking on critical roles such as Vice President and Head of Business, before eventually being appointed COO of the food ordering and delivery segment. His exit marks the end of a notable chapter for Eternal, although the company has not yet disclosed any plans for succession.

Rebrand And Recent Exits Create Uncertainty

This development follows a series of recent top-level departures at Eternal Limited. Among them are Hemal Jain, the former Global Head of Finance and CFO of Hyperpure, and Akriti Chopra, the Co-founder and Chief People Officer. In October last year, Independent Director Gunjan Soni also exited the company.

These internal shifts come on the heels of the company’s rebranding initiative. Eternal Limited now houses four key business units—Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure. CEO Deepinder Goyal, in an earlier communication, emphasised that while the corporate name has changed, the Zomato brand and its app remain unaffected.

Adding to the internal churn, media reports recently indicated that around 600 customer support staff members were laid off within a year of hiring. The company has not commented publicly on these layoffs.

As Eternal Limited continues to evolve, Chandra's departure signals yet another transition for the food-tech major in a year already marked by strategic restructuring and leadership changes.
