IndiGo Offers Flexible Rebooking, Relief Flights Amid Temporary Airport Closures

IndiGo has announced a range of customer-friendly measures in response to the temporary shutdown of 32 airports across northern and western India due to operational and security-related reasons. The airline has waived change and cancellation fees for affected travelers and is offering free rebooking from or to alternative nearby airports, it said in a statement issued on Saturday.
The proactive move comes after the Airports Authority of India (AAI), in coordination with aviation regulators, issued Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) suspending all civil flight operations at the affected airports until May 14. The suspension is effective through 05:29 IST on May 15, 2025, as per the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s latest advisory.
IndiGo said it is committed to assisting customers during this period of disruption. “We understand the uncertainty this situation may have caused and want to assure you that our team is here to help. Change and cancellation fees are being waived for bookings made during this period,” the airline said. It confirmed that customers booked on impacted routes may rebook their travel through alternate airports at no additional cost.
The airline also revealed plans to operate relief flights to assist stranded passengers. "This flexibility is available across our network for eligible bookings. We are also planning to operate relief flights to support stranded passengers and will share updates as these plans are confirmed," the statement added.

Affected Airports
The list of airports affected by the temporary closure includes major regional hubs such as Amritsar, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Leh, Jammu, Bhuj, Rajkot, and Jodhpur, among others. Civil aviation activities at these airports will remain suspended until the NOTAMs are lifted.
In addition to airport closures, 25 Air Traffic Service (ATS) route segments across the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs) have also been temporarily shut, adding to the scale of disruption in the country’s aviation network.
IndiGo’s flexible rebooking policy is valid across its domestic network for bookings impacted by the airport closures. The airline advised customers to monitor its official communication channels for the latest updates on flight schedules and relief operations.
