Opinion: South India CMs Bat For Baby Boom. How Demographics & Politics Made ‘Population Control’ Passe

Two chief ministers of southern states — N. Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh and M.K. Stalin of Tamil Nadu — have given a clarion call to their people to have more children. Puzzling, since for years now population control has been the buzzword in India. We have all read and heard how India’s high population is one of the gravest issues facing the country. So what’s changed? There’s a bit of demographics and politics behind the CMs batting for a baby boom.
