Bengaluru Madrasa In-Charge Arrested For 'Brutally Assaulting Girls': 'Slapping, Kicking...'
In her complaint filed on Wednesday, the victim's mother alleged that Hassan, the son of the hostel in-charge, frequently visited the hostel and subjected the children to harsh treatment.

Karnataka police arrested the in-charge of a madrasa in Bengaluru on charges of brutally assaulting young girls studying at the institution. The incident, which occurred within the limits of Kottanur police station on the outskirts of Bengaluru, came to light after an 11-year-old girl was allegedly physically assaulted by Hassan on February 16.
The in-charge of the madrasa was identified as Mohammad Hassan.
According to the victim’s mother, her daughter was admitted to the madrasa and its hostel in July 2024, as per a report on PTI. In her complaint filed on Wednesday, she alleged that Hassan, the son of the hostel in-charge, frequently visited the hostel and subjected the children to harsh treatment. On the day of the incident, around 4:30 pm, the girl was called to the office, where Hassan allegedly slapped, kicked, and thrashed her for spilling rice and quarreling with other girls during playtime.
The assault was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the madrasa, and the footage has since gone viral on social media. The video shows Hassan and four staff members in his chamber with female students standing fearfully at the entrance. In the disturbing footage, Hassan is seen grabbing a girl by her hair, dragging her into the chamber, and beating her on the back. He is also seen twisting another girl’s fingers, slapping her repeatedly, and kicking her when she collapses to the ground, reported IANS. In another instance, he stomps on a girl’s toes, forcing her to join her legs before applying full pressure.
The Kottanur police have registered a case against Hassan under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act (punishment for cruelty to children) and Section 115 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (voluntarily causing hurt). Hassan, who ran the madrasa in Thanisandra, Bengaluru, has been taken into custody.
The incident has triggered widespread condemnation, with parents of the victims staging protests and demanding strict action against Hassan. The madrasa, operational since 2012, has around 200 students, many of whom are now under scrutiny for potential mistreatment.
