Tata Nexon EV 45 Real World Range, Drive Review: Panoramic Sunroof, 45 kWh Battery Pack, And More

The 45 kWh battery pack version now promises 489km which is a fair bit higher than the 40.5 kWh battery pack version. With Tata's real-world C75 range being 350-370km , we were keen to test it.

The Nexon EV was the first electric SUV in a space which is now getting more congested. It is the electric car that you see the most on our roads since it has been on sale for a long time in its previous gen avatar too. However, since then the competition has become more dense and arrival of the Curvv has also stolen some thunder from the Nexon. However, the Nexon EV now has a 45 kWh battery pack version and also has more features.

There is a frunk and a panoramic sunroof too which is crucial in a time when features are in high demand. Let us talk about the larger battery pack first. The 45 kWh battery pack version now promises 489km which is a fair bit higher than the 40.5 kWh battery pack version. With Tata's real-world C75 range being 350-370km , we were keen to test it for ourselves. We had the car for two weeks and used it for our Bharat Mobility runs which meant a lot of traffic and getting stuck with the regen braking coming in handy.

A full charge did show a disappointing 290km on the display but don't let that put you off as it will do well above 300km in the real world. We got around 350km and that is much more than the 40.5 kwh battery pack version which was well under 300km at around 270km. Our driving was in eco mode and we used level 2 regen or level 3 for maximum one pedal driving.

Tata Nexon EV: Lower Charging Time And Interiors

There is also a bit more power while performance is much more spirited than other similarly priced EVs with strong acceleration making it a fun drive along with quick overtakes. Even the charging time has gone down slightly. The other elements remain the same which means the styling is a plus point as personally I think it looks quite good while the cabin is feature packed including a nice sounding audio system.

However, the lack of storage is an issue especially in the centre console while the rear seat has a knees up seating position. That said, the ride and the zippy driving manners came in handy. It is without doubt the Nexon EV to buy and the extra range alone makes it worth spending the extra over the 40.5 kWh battery pack version.

Prices start at Rs 13.99 lakh while the top-end is just below Rs 17 lakh plus the Red Dark edition is a bit more. For the price, the features and the performance is quite impressive for an EV while range real world is also better than other EVs at this price.
