India's Longest SUV? Land Rover Defender 130 Launched
The Defender 130 is one of the longest SUVs with a full three-row capacity while seating for eight passengers. Here is what we feel about the luxury SUV.
The Defender till now has been available via the 90 model with a three-door form or 110 model with a five-door form but now the luxury SUV maker has revealed prices for the eight-seater longer 130 model which is priced at Rs 1.3 crore starting for the 3.0l petrol.
The Defender 130 is one of the longest SUVs with a full three-row capacity while seating for eight passengers. The 130 also gets Sedona Red colour option while it gets a new, larger 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, standard Electronic Air Suspension and Cabin Air Purification Plus.
The talking point is the extended rear overhang and how the length is increased by 340mm. Hence, it has a length of 5,358 mm, which is a lot longer than the 110 Defender. While a panoramic sunroof is standard, there is another sunroof added to the 130.
The third row has ample seating space for three adults and headroom is also good with a boxy roofline. Even the third row gets heated seats, padded armrests and USB-C ports. The Defender 130 also has four zone climate control.
With all rows of seating in place, there is still 389 litres of cargo volume but when not in use, they are split in 40:20:40 configuration. With two rows folded down, there is a massive amount of space on offer with a 2,516-litre boot space capacity.
The Defender 130 gets air suspension as standard plus mild hybrid petrol plus diesel engines. The Defender 130 competes with other three row 7-seater luxury SUVs but the Defender 130 is the longest of them all and is also packing the most amount of storage space. It is also a proper three-row SUV with loads of space at the third row which does give it a big advantage over rivals even though the prices are higher than the standard 110 Defender too.
It remains to be seen how the length affects the off-road ability of the Defender but the 130 will be for space and comfort oriented buyers rather than off-roading-for which the standard Defender 110 is there.
