Hyundai Verna Sedan Scores 5 Stars In GNCAP Crash Test Rating

The Hyundai Verna has scored a perfect NCAP rating for adult and child occupant safety.

The Hyundai Verna has secured a five star safety rating in the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) test. It is one of the final cars being tested by GNCAP before Bharat NCAP takes over.

The Verna has scored a perfect NCAP rating for adult and child occupant safety. This voluntary test is one of the final results ahead of Bharat NCAP starting its own tests later in the year.

GNCAP used the base specification Verna that has ESC and six airbags as standard -- something that is essential for a five star rating.

That said, GNCAP did note that the structure was unstable. The rating is given for frontal and side impact protection along with high pedestrian protection and side impact pole protection assessments.

This is required for cars securing the top rating, which is five stars. The Verna is the first Hyundai car to score five stars. It was also noted that the protection for the driver head and neck was good. Driver and passenger knees also showed marginal protection.

The Verna competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Virtus and the Škoda Slavia, which have also recieved a five star rating by GNCAP.
