ABP Live Auto Awards 2022: How The Winners Were Selected — The Process Explained

2022 ABP Live Auto Awards — To recognise the best, ABP Live brings you the inaugural Auto Awards. Know more about the jury, and the selection process for ABP Live Auto Awards 2022.

The inaugural ABP Live Auto awards kick-off in style with our motto being to honour automotive innovation and pick the best cars or bikes of the year. 2022 had many important launches and that meant it was even more important to give car buyers a clear idea of which the standout cars and bikes of this year are. Despite teething troubles that the auto industry faced, the greater need for personal mobility has increased demand for cars and bikes this year. Also of much importance is the inclusion of new alternatives to current powertrains with hybrids and EVs taking centre stage while featuring prominently in our judging process.

Ethos

ABP Live is the most trusted digital platform and for our inaugural Auto Awards in 2022, we picked only the best cars that have impressed us over the past year. We have also picked categories that matter to the Indian car buyer in making that informed choice while reducing clutter amongst the vast array of new cars available to buy. Our team of auto experts have evaluated and driven all of the cars launched in the past year and will select only a few which meet our stringent criteria.

Eligibility

Only new cars launched in the past year are eligible for the awards and that means all new models available to private car buyers. New variants of a car launched earlier can only be considered if the changes are significant enough including mechanical changes. CBU or fully imported cars launched in 2022 are also eligible.ABP Live Auto Awards 2022: How The Winners Were Selected — The Process Explained

Awards Show

To narrow down to the 'Car of the year' award, all of the respective category winners were tested at ICAT- International Centre for Automotive technology where all of the cars were driven in a controlled environment to judge various attributes of the cars. Being an automotive testing facility, it proved to be the perfect canvas to showcase our award winners. The team of judges also tested the cars in real-world conditions to judge crucial areas like fuel efficiency, ride quality and handling along with overall performance.

The 'Car of the year' was awarded to the car which scored the maximum points across all categories and had the highest average scores with all of the judges. Along with the judges, the show also had four presenters: Tonakshi Kalra, Badsha Ray, Aabir Lahiry and Harshvardhan Rawat.
