2022 Honda City Hybrid To Be Lanched On April 14

Called City e:HEV, this version would be sitting at the top of the City range. As is with any hybrid, the City hybrid will get two electric motors paired with an internal combustion petrol engine.

New Delhi: Honda will unveil its next launch for India and it is the City hybrid. This is a strong hybrid and not a mild hybrid while the unveil date is 14th April.

Called City e:HEV, this version would be sitting at the top of the City range. As is with any hybrid, the City hybrid will get two electric motors paired with an internal combustion petrol engine.

The City hybrid involves an engine, an inverter, two electric motors plus a small lithium-ion battery pack. The larger motor makes 109PS while the petrol engine makes about 98ps.

There would be three drive modes- EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive. The EV drive is when you can cruise in electric power with the engine switching on and off.

Hence, it is expected to be one of the most efficient cars in its class with the car sold in other markets having more than 27kmpl mileage.

The City hybrid is more of an electric car with a petrol engine and that is a welcome addition.

These are facts from the overseas model and we will get to know more about the car at its India launch next month.

There would be styling changes to the car and also factors to differentiate it over City models including specific badging too. It might also get more tech and even ADAS features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and more being the only sedan to get these features as currently, only SUVs get them.

The question is the price but with sky high petrol prices, the City hybrid could not have come at a better time.
