Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: Bulk resignations, protests and 600 arrests... here's latest update

While facing the biggest economic crisis ever, Sri Lanka's cabinet ministers resigned late on Sunday night. The country's Education Minister and Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardene said that the cabinet ministers submitted their resignations to Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. He did not give any reason for the mass resignation.

However, political experts said that the ministers were under heavy public pressure over the government's alleged "mishandling" of the economic crisis which arose out of depletion of foreign exchange reserves. Despite the curfew, there were widespread demonstrations in the evening. The protesters are demanding the resignation of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
