Supreme Court issues notice to Center over CAA
The Supreme Court on Wednesday started hearing a batch of petitions seeking to examine the constitutional validity of the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), which has irked nationwide protests for more than one month. Giving out an initial reaction to the petitions, the top court said that it may refer pleas challenging the validity of CAA to a larger Constitution bench. The court also said that it will not accept any fresh plea in this regard.
