Sawan 2nd Monday: Kashi Vishwanath, Daksheshwar See Massive Shiva Devotee Turnout

Devotion to Lord Shiva reached a spectacular high across several parts of North India on the second Monday of Sawan, with thousands of devotees gathering at prominent temples to seek the blessings of Mahadev. In Varanasi, the Kashi Vishwanath Temple witnessed a massive rush of pilgrims and Kanwariyas from the early hours of the morning. Devotees waited in long queues through the night for the Mangala Aarti and early morning darshan of Baba Vishwanath. The temple premises echoed with chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Bam Bam Bhole” as devotees offered prayers, performed jalabhishek and sought peace and prosperity. Kanwariyas and other pilgrims were also welcomed with flower showers, adding to the festive and spiritual atmosphere in the temple corridor. A similar devotional scene was witnessed at the historic Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple in Kankhal, Haridwar. According to local religious belief, Lord Shiva is believed to reside at his in-laws’ home in Kankhal during the holy month of Sawan. Devotees arrived carrying Gangajal and stood in long queues to offer water and prayers at the ancient shrine. In Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur, the famous Siddhapeeth Sabli Mahadev Temple also saw a large gathering of Shiva devotees. Pilgrims offered water, milk and bel leaves to the Shivling while praying for happiness, prosperity and the well-being of their families. The second Monday of Sawan holds special significance for Shiva devotees, and this year’s observance has brought an intense wave of faith, devotion and celebration to temples across the region. From Varanasi to Haridwar and Hapur, devotees are participating in rituals with deep spiritual enthusiasm.
