New Delhi Railway Station Stampede: Eyewitnesses Blame Administration, Non-Functional Escalator Exposed Lapses

Eyewitnesses of the tragic stampede at New Delhi Railway Station have blamed administrative failures, revealing that a non-functional escalator near platform 14 and 16 contributed to the chaos. The incident, which occurred on February 15, claimed 18 lives, including three children. Survivors stated that overcrowding worsened due to delays in multiple trains and the sale of thousands of general tickets, making movement impossible.Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has ordered a high-level probe and introduced special trains to ease congestion. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Delhi LG V.K. Saxena expressed condolences and assured support. However, growing concerns about mismanagement and inadequate crowd control have put the railway administration under intense scrutiny.
