When Ratan Tata Decided Against His Initial Decision To Take Revenge Against Ford

The Ratan Tata v. Ford saga is an amazing example of how resilient businesses can be. Ratan Tata approached Ford about selling Tata Motors' newly created passenger car segment in 1999, when the company was having trouble. Ford officials allegedly made fun of Tata and questioned his expertise of the auto sector during the meeting. Tata withdrew from the agreement. In 2008, with Ford facing financial difficulties, Tata Motors paid $2.3 billion to acquire Jaguar and Land Rover (JLR).
