Video Of Australian Foreign Minister Playing Cricket With Youngsters Goes Viral After World Cup Final

In the clip, Wong wearing a blue coloured trouser and a white top is seen batting to a field set up at a lawn of the Australian High Commission.

Cricket World Cup 2023 ended with Australia defeating India by 6 wickets in the finals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and clinching the trophy. Travis Head anchored Australian innings by scoring a swashbuckling century as Marnus Labuschagne played the perfect anchor scoring a gritty 50. Head made 100 runs off 95 balls at a strike rate of 105.3 and stitched up a partnership of 192 runs with Labuschagne to snatch the match from India.

And two days after Australia became the world champions for the sixth time, a video of Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong playing cricket with young cricketers, at the Australian High Commission in Delhi has gone viral.

In the clip, Wong wearing a blue coloured trouser and a white top is seen batting to a field set up at a lawn of the Australian High Commission. The first ball bowled to her is a  light push on the long off. While the second ball is played on the leg side.

Since being shared on X, formerly Twitter, by news agency ANI, the clip has amassed close to 60,000 views and 834 likes. It also garnered some comments.

"rubbing salt on the wound and all that," wrote one user on seeing the video.

While another dejected by India's defeat wrote "Please stop this cricket."
