A recent robbery attempt at an eatery in Telangana's Ranga Reddy district took a comical turn after a thief, disappointed at finding nothing to steal, left behind Rs 20 on the counter for the hotel owners before making his exit. The CCTV footage of the amusing act at a Maheshwaram hotel has now gone viral on social media, where the masked robber is seen expressing his frustration.
In a video, a masked thief, armed with a stick, can be seen breaking into the eatery. He can then be seen looking around the place for a few minutes for valuables. Disappointed by the lack of valuables, the robber can be then seen expressing his frustration by looking into the camera and gesturing at the poor financial condition of the hotel.

After checking every place including the cash counter and kitchen, the frustrated thief looked directly at the CCTV camera and appeared to ask why the business was so broke.
Frustrated, he took a water bottle from the refrigerator and left Rs 20 on the table before departing. The footage shared online shows the thief wearing gloves, a cap, and a face mask to conceal his identity carefully.
While the incident reportedly took place a week ago, it came to light only on Friday.
According to a report by Times Of India, the Maheshwaram police have filed a case of attempted theft and an investigation is underway. "We suspect that the masked robber could be an old offender,” the TOI report quoted Venkateshwarlu, station house officer of Maheshwaram police station, as saying.
This is not the first time a thief has had a change of heart. Earlier this month, a thief was overcome with remorse after realizing that the house he stole valuables from belonged to a famous Marathi writer and returned the valuables he had decamped.
