Man Shares About Quitting Job On First Day Due To Long Commute, Invites Mixed Reactions From netizens

A job seeker residing in New Delhi chose not to compromise with work-life balance and quit his job on the first day, owing to a long commute.

Maintaining a work-life balance in today's world of demanding work culture is difficult for a lot of people. Employees in the corporate world have to work  8-9 hours for five to six days a week, and if the travel time between office and home is added there is hardly much time left for family and for themselves. However, a job seeker residing in New Delhi chose not to compromise and quit his job on the first day, owing to a long commute.

The post was shared by the man on Reddit asking users for their suggestions concerning his situation.

“Got a job in a decent company with a decent pay. They wanted people and hired me instantly after some rounds of interview. I got excited as it was my first job but realised it would be too much to travel. I live in the northwest part of Delhi (Pink line) and the job was based in "Moulsari Avenue". I wanted the on-site exposure since I'm a hella introvert. Upon some calculations I realised I'll only be at home for 3 hours (considering the office work + commute). Also it would cost around 5k monthly ka for travelling. I can't relocate. Give me some suggestions. Most of the well settled companies reside in Gurgaon so idk what shall I do. Do people who work spend the majority of their hours in a day outside??? Edit: I'll be at home for 10 hours. 7 hours sleep + 3 hours,” he wrote in his post.

Needless to say, his post went viral with several users sharing their views on it.

"Bro I live in Rohini and used to travel to gurgaon for an internship (6k monthly stipend). I left the internship because of this long distance traveling. Most of my day was lost in traveling only. I used to leave home at 7.45 am and reach back home by 9.30pm. There was no point in traveling long distances. Anyways If I get a job in gurgaon I will be moving to gurgaon. That's the best thing you can do," commented one user on the post.

While another wrote, "My father always replies this “ghr pe akar to koi paise nhi dega, kuch seekhna hai to ghr se bahar to nikalna padhega!” when I complain about long travel to commute."

A third suggested and wrote, "I travel to Gurgaon from Ghaziabad. 120-130 minutes per side. Have some colleagues who travel from around your area. Best advise I got from a senior is to take my books while I travel in metro. Have been doing so for 6 years almost. Recommend the same! Best utilisation of time."

Later, the man based on the comments edited the post and wrote, ''I did wrong. I didn't know every other person travels this much. I had no one to talk to so I took an impulsive decision. I'll do better and the next time I will grab any other opportunity I'll get. Thanks, guys,'' he wrote.
