n a few minutes other passengers travelling in the coach intervene and point towards the beedi, probably trying to tell him that smoking is prohibited.

Delhi Metro is once again in news. This time for a man lighting and smoking a beedi inside a metro coach. Yes, you heard that right. Despite smoking inside the metro premises strictly prohibited and being a punishable offense, an elderly man can be see using a matchstick to light a beedi and then throwing it away in a video shared on social media. The video has gone viral with several users seeks punishment for the  violation.

"Amidst open kissing in Delhi Metro, now swag of beedi," reads the caption of the video shared on  the microblogging site X, formerly Twitter.

In the video, a man wearing a white pant and a striped white shirt can be seen travelling inside Delhi Metro. Soon he lights up a beedi inside the coach and starts smoking. As he begins smoking, a passenger sitting next to him stands and moves away. In a few minutes other passengers travelling in the coach intervene and point towards the beedi, probably trying to tell him that smoking is prohibited.

Immediately after the video went viral and demands from social media user seeking punishment for the man, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation responded by saying "We conduct random checking through flying squads to detect any such objectionable behaviour. We appeal to the public to instantly bring up such instances to our notice so that immediate action can be taken."

Since being shared, the video of the man smoking a beedi inside the coach has amassed close to 5,000 views and tons of comments.

"Socially Responsible People, Why No one could intervene and Snatched away the Matchbox and Bider from the Culprit. Anyone who made this Clip or Vedio is also equally responsible for such an incident," commented one user on the post.
