'Delhi Waalo Muffler Pehan Lo': Memes Flood Twitter As National Capital Shivers Due To Cold Wave

Due to the severe drop in temperatures in the national capital, residents of Delhi turn to social media to share their experiences with the cold.

New Delhi: On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert, predicting that cold conditions would decrease, though some areas would still experience coldwave conditions. The Safdarjung weather station recorded a high temperature of 16.2 degrees Celsius, five degrees below the typical Delhi temperature for this time of year. Three degrees below normal, the minimum temperature was recorded at 5.3 degrees Celsius.

Due to the severe drop in temperatures in the national capital, residents of Delhi turn to social media to share their experiences with the cold. Netizens can't stop dropping hilarious jokes and funny comments, flooding the microblogging site with memes to make the heavy temperature feel lighter and more cheerful! In contrast to the "low" temperature of the city, "Dilli Ki Sardi," or "Delhi's Winter," is popular on Twitter because Desis are fond of memes.

The minimum temperatures on Monday were 4 degrees Celsius at the Ridge and 4.1 degrees Celsius at the Ayanagar weather stations, respectively.

On Monday, parts of the National Capital Region, Haryana, Punjab, west Uttar Pradesh, and north Rajasthan were covered in dense to very dense fog.

Here are some of the reactions:--

The IMD defines "very dense" fog as having visibility between 0 and 50 meters, "dense" fog between 51 and 200 meters, "moderate" fog between 201 and 500 meters, and "shallow" fog between 501 and 1,000 meters.
