A lawyer has been arrested by Chandigarh police for allegedly pretending to be a 'judicial magistrate first class' after being stopped for a traffic violation at a roundabout.
According to an India Today report, the man has been identified as Prakash Singh Marwah, a lawyer residing in Chandigarh's Sector 51. Marwah, the report says, was seen arguing with traffic police in a viral video. The video shows traffic police signaling for him to stop his white SUV, but Marwah continuing to drive before halting the vehicle in an unruly manner. When asked for his driving licence, Marwah refuses to show it and says “Nahi dikhaaunga (I won’t show it).”
The police then question him on why the registration plate was covered with a cloth, which partly obscured the number.

Quoted by Times of India, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ajit Singh of traffic wing Sector 29 said Prakash Singh Marwah was driving a Mahindra Scorpio with registration number CH-01-CT-2486 when it was stopped at a roundabout because a hanging cloth obscured part of the plate.
He said the accused driver also yelled at the police, daring them to challan him if they could. Police officials recorded the incident on their mobile phones and shared it on social media.
A report in the Indian Express quoted Senior Superintendent of Chandigarh Traffic Police Sumer Pratap Singh as saying that “a complaint against the offender was given to the police station in Sector 49, following which an FIR was registered against him".
