WhatsApp UPI Payment: WhatsApp has given a big insight into UPI payments. The company has recently explained how to make UPI payments on WhatsApp through its status. WhatsApp explained through a 20-second video, how payment can be made by scanning the UPI code. 

Task To Be Done Through WhatsApp Camera

UPI payment process mentions that you can scan UPI QR codes in local stores and make payments through WhatsApp. Users should tap the camera icon before opening the chat in WhatsApp.

The camera icon will open after tapping on the camera and users can scan any UPI QR code. As soon as the payment is completed, a message will automatically be sent to the WhatsApp contact.

WhatsApp's Claim On Security

WhatsApp claims that the feature is completely safe for its users and WhatsApp has not compromised on the safety front. You can know the method of payment step-by-step by scanning the UPI code through WhatsApp. 

Step-By-Step Process

  • Go to WhatsApp and open the camera.
  • Now scan the UPI QR code with the scan icon of the camera.
  • You can now make a payment if your account is linked to the WhatsApp number.
  • If the account is not linked, it must be linked first. 

WhatsApp is not yet on the list of top-10 UPI payment apps in the country and people are currently using it more for chats, videos, and photos.

WhatsApp aims to grow its customers in India. It may be noted that PhonePe is currently the largest app in UPI payments and has millions of customers in India.
