WhatsApp May Integrate Novi Digital Wallet For Payments Soon
WhatsApp is working towards integrating a new digital payments system called Novi.
New Delhi: WhatsApp is working towards integrating a new digital payments system called Novi. According to WABetaInfo, a beta tracker of WhatsApp, digital wallet Novi, owned by Meta, will let users send and receive money with no digital fees.
However, Novi is currently under development and available for download. The ervice is available through ongoing pilot programme for testers in the US and Guatemala. Novi lets users send and receive money with no fees across borders by using the Pax Dollar, a digital coin. However, there are no details about the availability of the integration of Novi with WhatsApp for the public.
WhatsApp for Android beta programme version 2.21.22.17 has been submitted through the Google Play Beta programme that suggests the world's most popular messaging platform is looking to integrate Novi.
WhatsApp uses UPI for payments in India so users in the country do not need to submit verification documents to continue to send or receive money through the platform.
"If you already know what is Novi, you probably also know that Novi will launch a small pilot program using USDP — within their standalone app — in two specific countries: US and Guatemala. The same statement was also posted by David Marcus on Twitter, the co-creator and a board member of Diem and the head of Facebook Financial," WABetaInfo recently wrote on its page.
Earlier, Mark Zuckerberg-owned Facebook had expressed its willingness to include Novi in the Facebook Family of Apps and Services such as WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, the immensely popular messaging app has already done away with the ‘WhatsApp from Facebook’ footer within WhatsApp Settings after rebreanding to Meta from Facebook.
