Twitter Tipped To Roll Out Advanced Search Filters On iOS 'Soon'

CEO Elon Musk earlier complained about Twitter's search feature within a week of taking control of the microblogging platform.

Twitter is finally bringing a much sought-after feature that will help users find specific tweets and profiles by filtering based on date, user, retweet count, hashtags and more. According to social media analyst Matt Navarra, Twitter's advanced search filters for smartphone users are "coming soon".

"Twitter Advanced Search feature on iOS is coming soon," he tweeted on Thursday. "You can also use Twitter Advanced Search on iOS to search another user's profile," he posted.

As Navarra mentioned, the new search feature will arrive first on iPhones.

CEO Elon Musk earlier complained about Twitter's search feature within a week of taking control of the microblogging platform.

"Fixing search is a high priority," he had tweeted on November 6 last year.

"Search within Twitter reminds me of Infoseek in '98! That will also get a lot better pronto," Musk added.

According to media reports, on the Web, you have to type in your search term, then click the three-dot menu to the right of the search bar to open up the advanced search.

It's still not clear when this advanced search feature will roll out.

Meanwhile, Twitter this week said it would expand the types of political ads allowed on the social media platform. The latest development comes in an apparent reversal of its 2019 global ban on political ads as the Elon Musk-owned company seeks to grow revenue.

In a tweet, the San Francisco-based social media firm revealed its plan to expand political advertising in the coming weeks.

“We believe that cause-based advertising can facilitate a public conversation around important topics. Today, we're relaxing our ads policy for cause-based ads in the US. We also plan to expand the political advertising we permit in the coming weeks,” the company said in a tweet.
