Get Ready To Pay For TweetDeck Through Twitter Blue Soon
As per security researcher Jane Manchun Wong, Twitter is working towards making TweetDeck a paid feature through its Twitter Blue premium subscription service within Android app.
New Delhi: Social media dashboard app for the management of Twitter accounts, popularly known as TweetDeck, may soon become a paid feature. According to reverse engineer and security researcher Jane Manchun Wong, Twitter is working towards making TweetDeck a paid feature through its Twitter Blue premium subscription service within Android app.
Wong has also spotted a sign up "work-in-progress" page for Twitter and according to the screenshots shared, it will be a powerful real-time tool for people who live on Twitter. Wong also mentioned that it would offer an ad free experience.
"Twitter is filling in the new @TweetDeck signup page that they’re working on. Two new highlights: 1. A link for “the legacy version of TweetDeck” (even though it might be deprecated at some point in the future) 2. “Ad-free experience” being marketed as the selling point :P," Wong tweeted.
According to a report by TechCrunch, Twitter has not commented on the possible change to TweetDeck. Earlier this month, Wong had found a code that seemed to redirect non-Blue subscribers trying to access the new version of TweetDeck to the Twitter Blue sign-up page.
"Twitter is working on referencing @TweetDeck in @TwitterBlue’s features list This is another indication that TweetDeck might become a paid feature under the subscription service," the reverse engineer and tipster had tweeted earlier.
Twitter Blue, is the premium subscription service from the micro-blogging site, and it went live for users in the US and New Zealand in November 2021. The feature lets Twitter users undo tweets, read news pieces without advertisements and also allow them to try out some features early. Twitter Blue subscription is available for $2.99 per month and it aims to enhance the premium subscribers' experience by offering better features and services.
The company had earlier mentioned that a free version of Twitter is not going away, and never will. The subscription service is aimed to add enhanced and complementary features to the already existing Twitter experience for those who opt for it. Apart from the US and New Zealand, Twitter Blue is also available in Canada and Australia. In these regions, Twitter Blue is available for in-app purchase on Twitter for iOS and Android devices, or on twitter.com through the company's payment partner Stripe.
