Twitter Edit Feature Is Available, But Only For Select Users: Details

According to a new leak, the micro-blogging site has made the edit button available for some users.

We all know that Twitter has been working on a much-anticipated edit button for quite some time and according to a new leak, the micro-blogging site has made the edit button available for some users. The Twitter edit button is, however, available only for a specific use case as of now. According to leakster Mukul Sharma, the Twitter edit button will function only to edit offensive or abusive tweets. The company is also testing a like and dislike feature.

"Twitter Edit button is here, but only for potentially abusive/harmful/offensive tweets for now. Plus, Twitter is testing a like/dislike feature, which lets you view the stats (likes, comments, RTs) in the notifications section itself and lets you engage with the tweet right there," the leakster tweeted from his handle @stufflistings.

The company will give a warning to users when they are about to post an abusive or offensive tweet. When the users post offensive or abusive tweets, three options would pop up that would let them edit, delete or just post the tweet. Another anticipated feature that Twitter is working on is the like/dislike button that would let users like/dislike directly from the notifications panel. This feature is also being tested for quite some time.

To recall, earlier in April, Twitter had said that it will test the edit button feature in the coming days with select Twitter Blue members and that it has been working on the feature since last year. In a tweet, Twitter had said that the idea for an edit button did not come from a poll that its largest shareholder, Elon Musk started on the platform asking users if they wanted the option to edit their tweets.
