Meta Launches Standalone AI App With Voice Chat, Discovery Feed, Personalisation Tools: Here's What It Can Do

At the heart of the app is a major push toward natural voice interaction. Users can speak with Meta AI in real-time.

Meta is doubling down on its artificial intelligence ambitions with the launch of a new standalone Meta AI app that promises a more personalised, conversational assistant experience. Built on Meta’s Llama 4 model, the app's advanced voice chats feature is now available to users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, offering seamless voice interactions and deep integration across Meta’s ecosystem of apps and devices.

It should be noted that while the Meta AI app is available in India as well as other countries, the advanced features are yet to receive any other market apart from the ones mentioned above.

Personalisation at the Core

The newly launched Meta AI app is designed to tailor its responses based on user preferences and behaviour, with the ability to remember context and adapt over time. If you’re someone who frequently travels or has specific interests, Meta AI can remember those details and tailor its suggestions accordingly. This personalised touch extends even further if users have linked their Facebook and Instagram profiles via the Meta Accounts Center.

"Meta AI is built to get to know you, so its answers are more helpful. It’s easy to talk to, so it’s more seamless and natural to interact with," the company said. The assistant also taps into content users have already shared or engaged with across Meta platforms to deliver more relevant answers.

Chat Naturally While Multitasking

At the heart of the app is a major push toward natural voice interaction. Users can speak with Meta AI in real-time, with a visible microphone icon indicating when voice input is active. A highlight feature is the new full-duplex speech demo, allowing for more fluid, human-like conversations.

"While speaking with AI using your voice isn’t new, we’ve improved our underlying model with Llama 4 to bring you responses that feel more personal and relevant, and more conversational in tone," Meta noted.Meta Launches Standalone AI App With Voice Chat, Discovery Feed, Personalisation Tools: Here's What It Can Do

The app also integrates familiar features like image generation and editing, all accessible through voice or text chats. While the full-duplex demo is still in testing and may show inconsistencies, Meta says it’s a glimpse into the AI-powered future it’s building toward.

Discover, Connect, and Continue Conversations

Another standout feature is the Discover feed — a space where users can see how others are leveraging Meta AI. Prompts can be shared, remixed, and explored, though nothing gets posted unless users explicitly choose to share it. "The Meta AI app includes a Discover feed, a place to share and explore how others are using AI," Meta said.

The app also serves as the new companion platform for Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Users can begin a conversation using the glasses and then pick it up later on the app or desktop. This continuity is part of Meta’s broader vision to make AI accessible across devices and platforms.

Meta AI’s web version has been refreshed too, featuring voice controls and improved tools for image generation and document creation. Users can now create, export, and even import files for analysis, although some features are still in testing phases.

From personal chats to productivity tools, Meta is positioning its AI assistant as an all-in-one digital sidekick that fits naturally into users’ daily routines. As Meta puts it, “Voice is the most intuitive way to interact with Meta AI,” and with this new app, the company hopes users will be talking a lot more.
