Koo Sensitises Users On Online Safety And Cyber Hygiene

Collaborates with CERT-In as part of an ongoing effort to promote responsible user behavior.

To enhance public awareness on online safety, security and cyber hygiene, multi-lingual micro-blogging platform - Koo - and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, joined hands to create a citizen outreach programme on Safer Internet Day - February 8, 2022. The campaign aimed to make the internet safe and reliable for all users. Leveraging the 2022 theme – ‘Together for a Better Internet’ - CERT-In and Koo sensitized users about the crucial role that parents and society can play in empowering the youth to use technology in a responsible, respectful, and creative manner.

The collaboration between Koo and CERT-In is part of an ongoing engagement to build greater awareness on internet safety. In October 2021, during the National Cyber Security Awareness Month, Koo and CERT-In had partnered to educate users on issues related to phishing, hacking, personal information security, password & PIN management, avoiding clickbait and protecting one’s privacy while using public Wi-Fi.

Koo has always been at the forefront when it comes to promoting internet safety and responsible user behavior. As a compliant and reliable platform, Koo has a robust grievance redressal mechanism to address concerns within 24 hours of being raised. Koo has also implemented a structured content moderation policy, which leverages the expertise of both humans and machines to rein in hate, bullying, obscenity and malice; and stimulate a clean, connected ecosystem. Moreover, Koo’s Community Guidelines - which carry an India-centric approach - sensitize users on what is permissible or prohibited online, and are available on the website in all the 10 languages that the platform operates.

As a platform that enables thoughts and opinions, Koo encourages users to create wholesome content, hold meaningful conversations and foster creativity.
