Google PiP Feature: Users Can Navigate Other Apps While Watching Videos On YouTube
PiP feature will allow users to watch videos on YouTube as well as work on other apps. This feature is currently being tested.
New Delhi: Tech giant Google is working on a new feature called PiP i.e. Picture in Picture feature. This feature, which is being introduced to iOS users, will allow premium subscribers of the YouTube app to watch videos while using other apps on mobile. Right now this feature is available only for premium customers of YouTube. The feature has now been rolled out on an experimental basis.
According to the AppleInsider report, users will be able to manually activate YouTube's new PiP feature in advance. After enabling the feature, it will allow users to minimize the YouTube viewing window and convert it to a mini-player window. Then the users will be able to watch Youtube videos on smartphones as well as use other apps.
YouTube said while using this feature locking the screen will pause the video, though content can be resumed via lock screen controls. YouTube had announced plans to roll out a PiP mode for US subscribers of its premium service in July.
