Adding Immersive View To Google Maps' travel routes is likely to make it easier to understand where users want to go.

The company intends to roll out Immersive View for Routes in 15 cities globally by the end of the year. "From Street View ➡️ New Immersive View for routes in @GoogleMaps  🧵↓ #GoogleIO," Google tweeted.

Immersive View on Google Maps brings a 3D view of a place and adds useful information such as weather or traffic to give users an idea of what is happening at that location.

"Last year we introduced Immersive View in @GoogleMaps, which uses computer vision and AI to fuse together billions of Street View and aerial images to create a high-fidelity digital model of the world so you can experience places before you visit," the tech giant added.

According to a report, Miriam Daniel, Vice President and GM of Google Maps, the feature will come be rolling out to a few cities this summer and all 15 cities will get the feature by the end of 2023. Immersive View for Google Maps will launch first on iOS and Android and there's no clarity on the timeline of launch for desktop users.
