Google Pixel 8 Series Launch Date Officially Confirmed

The Google Pixel 8 series launch event is said to be hosted in New York, starting at 10am local time or 10:30pm IST.

In line with previous leaks and rumours, the Google Pixel 8 series will be launched soon after the unveiling of the Apple iPhone 15 lineup. Google has announced that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be launched on October 4. The tech giant mentioned, in a video advertisement posted on X, formerly Twitter, that "big fall launches are stressful" but Pixel helps its friend stay cool as a cucumber. A Pixel device can be seen with a cucumber glued to its body along with a purported iPhone in the video ad. The Pixel 8 lineup may comprise a vanilla Pixel 8 and a pricier and better-specced Pixel 8 Pro.

This comes just a day after Google's rival and Cupertino-headquartered Apple confirmed that the iPhone 15 lineup will be unveiled on September 12 at its "Wonderlust" event.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Expected Specs And Features

A previous leak by tipster Yogesh Brar said that the Google Pixel 8 Pro would come with a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Like the Pixel 7 series, this device would also be powered by an in-house Google Tensor G3 chipset and a Titan chip. The Pixel 8 Pro model would house three cameras at the rear and offer 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The Pixel 8 Pro could also have an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor as well. Pixel 8 pro's rear camera would comprise three sensors: a 50MP main, a 64MP ultrawide and a 48MP telephoto. For selfies, there would be an 11MP camera.

Pixel 8 series is likely to get upgrades from its predecessors, in terms of fast charging and battery. The Pixel 8 lineup is said to come with bigger batteries and faster charging speeds than last year's Pixel 7 lineup. Even as wired charging is likely to get a bump, wireless charging on the purported Pixel 8 phones is expected to remain the same. It is pertinent to note that smartphone makers such as OnePlus and Oppo provide insane charging speeds for their phones, but Google still chooses to ship Pixel phones with 23W of wired charging support. Last year's Pixel 7 lineup supports 23W charging speed.
