iPhone 15 Production Issues Resolved, Says Analyst Ming Chi-Kuo Ahead Of Launch
Kuo has predicted that iPhone 15 Pro may arrive in grey, white, black and blue colourways.
Famed Apple analyst Ming Chio-Kuo of TF International Securities has said that production issues for the non-pro iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have been resolved, a day after Apple sent media invites for the September 12 "Wonderlust" event. While the pricier iPhone 15 Pro models are said to come with a titanium chassis instead of a stainless steel frame, Kuo mentioned that the display panels, batteries, titanium frame and a new stacked camera sensor for the lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus have all been resolved, according to a report by MacRumors.
Apple would be hosting the September event from Apple Park and the launch would also be live-steamed via Apple's website.
“The stacked CIS issue has been resolved by increasing production capacity, but it still affects about 10–15 per cent of shipments of regular models,” Kuo claimed.
“The production challenges of titanium frames are high processing difficulty and significant design changes during development (cancelling the virtual button design in 2Q23),” said Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, a financial services group in the Asia-Pacific region.
Changing the supplier shipment ratio has resolved the panel issue while the battery and frame issues have been resolved mainly by improving production yield. The iPhone Pro Max project was the last to kick off, so the mass production schedule lags behind other models, according to Kuo.
