Honor's First Foldable, Magic V2 Set To Launch Next Month: Specs, Colours, More

The phone would be called the Honor Magic V2 and it is likely to be unveiled globally on September 1.

Handset maker Honor is set to enter the foldables smartphone category next month, the media has reported. The phone would be called the Honor Magic V2 and it is likely to be unveiled globally on September 1. The device has already been launched on the company's home turf in China. The Honor Magic V2 would be unveiled at 10 am CEST at IFA 2023 in Berlin. The foldable comes with a top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This comes days after Samsung launched its fifth-gen foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

As per the event’s poster, Honor is likely to unveil the Magic V2 along with another foldable device, but its details are not yet known.

The foldable was launched in China for CNY 8,999 (roughly Rs 1,04,147) for the 16GB/256GB storage model and CNY 9,999 (roughly Rs 1,15,067) for the 16GB/512GB variant.

It would come in two storage configurations: 16GB+256GB and 16GB+512GB in four colours: black, gold, purple and black (PU).

Samsung, on the other hand, unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 5 in eight colour options and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in six colours.

Meanwhile, OnePlus' maiden foldable smartphone, the purported OnePlus Open has hit a delay in launch, a famed tipster has recently said. According to leakster Max Jambor, the launch of the OnePlus Open will be delayed due to a "good reason". OnePlus had chosen China's display-making giant Beijing Oriental Electronics or BOE for supplying panels for OnePlus Open, but now, the handset maker is replacing BOE with Samsung-made displays. This means we can expect OnePlus Open's screen to be top-notch.

We all know that the competition in the foldable space is heating up and OnePlus is also gearing up to foray into it. The space was dominated by Samsung which has just launched its fifth-gen foldable line of smartphones.
